Default Oil Drain Plug Gasket

Hi, I drained my oil yesterday on my 98 Camry and the gasket on the oil dran plug was absolutely brittle and breaking apart...Is this gasket made of cork or just a rubber gasket or does it matter?...My Toyota manual doesn't specify...Tomorrow is Sunday so I will be getting one at Pep Boys...Thanks for any information you can provide, Jody

I prefer the copper washers, but they're hard to find. Usually they're made from a compressed fiber material or plastic. You'd be better to get one at Toyota if you want quality as the OEM ones are much better. It is recommened to have a spare on hand and replace them every so often.
