Default Partially stuck gas pedal - 95 CAMRY V6 le

I do not drive my 95 camry as often as I used to. However, I start it up and drive it around. This time I started it up and when I tapped the gas pedal it got stuck at say 4000 and gradually went down and over time tapping pedal went away. What do I need to lubricate since this never happened before or suggest? 265000 miles , runs well, has some rust, and that's about it .Never seen it in any of my cars. Thanks.

Could be a sticky throttle pedal, throttle plate, an issue with the throttle cable system or the cruise control actuator box..

The throttle plate actuator system uses cables. One cable runs from the throttle pedal to the cruise control actuator box in the engine compartment. From here another cable runs to the throttle plate pulley. The cruise control actuator box has a removable cover. Once the cover removed can watch how the cable system move inside the box as the pedal is operated. The cruise control system when on, moves the cable which moves the throttle plate.

Check the throttle pulley/plate and throttle pedal for sticking when hand operated. Make sure both return to the closed/idle position when released. Have someone press of the pedal while you watch for sticking cables, etc.

Don't adjust any screws on the throttle body as the computer sets idle speed.

If everything seems OK could be the IAC valve is sticking..

Well it went away and then when I did a long drive on the way home. Pedal got stuck on 5000 RPM and in driveway in park. Found the culprit, the cable from the gas pedal needed lubrication. Took a while but injected it right where cable go into fire wall and the cable on top the engine was also sluggiush.

Letting it sit and test again. Scared the dickins out of me when pedal gets stuck.
