Please help, my car shuts down and start in 20 minutes
I have a Toyota Camry 2001 model. My car stops with sudden jerks when it is slowed down usually at signal or stop signs. For 20 minutes it won't start. During this time the break pedal is tight cannot push it. After 20 minutes car would start and break pedal is usual. This happens once in every 2 months, so far this happened thrice..
I took the car to the mechanic but they said they cannot do anything since the car was running when I took to them. In fact they changed the electric wires that go from the engine and break pad. Spent couple of hundreds already, don't want to spend any more money on this.
What engine model?
Stick shift or auto?
ABS?
The break pedal is tight? The pedal is fully up and will not move down? Is the brake system on? Meaning the brakes locked. With engine off and trans in neutral try pushing the car.
The engine will not start, as in not turn over when you turn the ign switch to start? If this is the case perhaps it was the wiring.

I am not sure the engine model, I will check it and post it later.
Its Auto and not ABS.
When the car is slowed down (i mean apply breaks due to signal or traffic) engine shuts down with few jerks. After that, the pedal is fully up and does not move down. Engine will not start again up to 20 minutes. No engine lights during this time. No check engine light. After 20 minutes, when I try to push the break pedal it goes down like normally. I start the ignition, engine starts again normally. I feel this issue is some how related to the break or the break pedal. I changed the electric wires recently but that did not work.

How many cylinders does the engine have, V6 or inline 4?
I suspect you have a wiring issue.
The car has power assisted brakes. When then engine dies the brake runs out of power assist and can be hard to depress. The still work though.
Is this what is happening the brake pedal is not just very hard to press? Or you put both feet on the pedal it is does not move?
What happens when the car starts to die and you take your foot off the brake pedal?
When braking a loose wire could be shifting and disconnect. This could be the reason there are no engine lights on the dash.
When this condition happens, what works and what does not. Meaning do the headlights, dome light, horn have power? No power at all?
Have you tried braking softly so as not to shift the cars body too much?
There is a brake light switch in the area of the brake pedal upper mount. You can disconnect this switch, the try braking. It is the only connection to the physical brake system and the wiring.
