Question about fuel line
My son has 1990 Toyota Camry DX 2.0 L.He was changing out the fuel filter. The top fitting came off ok, but the bottom is pretty chewed up. Wrench won't work. Maybe vise grips. Does anyone know if the fuel line is one piece all the way to the gas tank? Not sure what to do. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Might do a search on this issue and fixes at the Toyotanation website, your problem is not uncommon.
I think the fuel line is one piece back to the fuel tank.
Unless the engine was running poorly one option may be to put the parts back together. Seldom does the can fuel filter ever plug up and need replacing!
Have you tried using a tube fitting wrench? Basically a box wrench with a slot to allow it slip over the pipe. This wrench grips the nut on more flats.
Make sure you grip the filter fitting also or the fuel pipe and filter may twist. If the actually pipe become twisted and now unusable some owners have cut off the damaged section of pipe and spliced in another section complete with end fitting. They use high pressure fuel hose (fuel pressure is around 50 psi).
