Default Rear Window Distort due to Heat grid

After purchasing the 2000 LE a few days ago I noticed at night driving that the de-fog/de-frost grids in rear window are much too evident and actually distort and obstruct my vision in rear-view mirror.
Am I alone here?

I think the glass is factory.

Short of removing the glass and replacing with a non wired one is there any solution?
Did they even come without the wire.
I sure dont need it in Texas.

Might even like to operate some add on fog lamps with that rear defog switch and wiring if that wouldn't require an Electrical Engineer to help me with it. Whacha think of that idea.

thanks

Default RE: Rear Window Distort due to Heat grid

I'd phone an auto glass shop and get their opinion.
