Default Strange rough idle (with video)

Hi guys

This problem started a few months ago. Took it to a mechanic who said it might be the sparks plugs to i got those replaced and got a new battery while I was there and it was good up until this week.

The problem is back, funny thing is it's perfect in the morning after it has been off all night, but after 5-10 minutes of driving, it will start running very rough and even stall when idling. If I turn it off and straight on again, it will take a good 4-5 attempts for it to start.

Here is a video of the rough idle, you may need to turn your speakers up a little bit: IMG 1913 - YouTube

Any idea what this could be?

As a start suggest you do an internet search on how to clean the throttle body and IAC valve. IAC valve controls engine idle.

You can do both of these tasks yourself.

Search on you engine model and the words cleaning IAC valve.

I might care to add that it's just not an idle problem, sometimes it also doesn't accelerate when I give it gas. Like if I'm in a higher gear (3rd or 4th) and floor it, nothing happens for a few seconds then it picks up.

Nothing happens when the gas is pressed?

Does the RPM rise and car not accelerate?

Engine bog down?

RPM just stays the same..

I sort of have to feather the clutch and gas to get it going again or else it would stall

When happens when you take the load off the engine, as in push in the clutch. Will the engine now rev up?

Check ign system for lack of a hot spark. Cap, rotor, coil, wires, plugs.

A plugged fuel filter although very rare can cause lack of engine power.

Since the RPM drops suddenly at idle could also be a partly plugged or failing injector. This is also rare but does happen.

If you have the tools might check fuel pump output and pressure.

It's hard to explain, but yeah I need to push the clutch in and sort of feather the gas to get it to rev, if I don't do this it will stall and it will take a while to get started again

Sounds like a fuel or ign issue.

Might start by checking the ign coil.
