I have a 1999 Camry that came down with transmission trouble 2 years ago. It started having trouble shifting at first, and the problem got worse as time went on. Eventually, it stopped moving all together. It's been immobilized for 2 years, and I finally got around to fixing it. I replaced the shift solenoids and trans fluid (which was black and full of metal filings). The engine runs fine, and all the electrics work. Moreover, the cable linkage to the trans works fine. However, the trans won't leave park. Is there anything I am missing?

 

stuck in park is the least of your problems

in a very short time .. you will end up replacing the transmission and the torque converter

for a used transmsission if a 4 cyl or V6 between US $300 and US $500

 

The car doesn't move in any forward or reverse gear?

The O/D clutch may be bad. To repair requires taking apart the trans.
