when to change spark plug question
My daughter has an 05 Camry XLE, 37000 miles. I don't think it has ever had the spark plugs changed, or had much of anything else done either other than oil changes. So the question is, should she have the plugs changed? It looks to me like the manual says change at 30000 or 36 months. It is way past the months obviously and I can't imagine anyone would have changed the plugs at the months if the car only has 37000 on it now.

Where would I find the engine code? The owners Maintenance Log is where it says to change every 30K, but that is generic for most every model Toyota car, not just this Camry. It is a top of the line XLE, what plugs would normally come on that vehicle?

Replacing VVT-i 3.0 spark plugs
I just turned 97000 on my '05 XLE and want to change the plugs. Would it be OK to change the front three first? Then later on, when I have a 1/2 day to disassemble/reassemble the valve cover, air intake, etc. change the back three?

Recommended plug change intervals often are not based on performance declines one might notice such as lack of pep but plug wear resulting in the engine no longer meeting the emissions standards it was built to. This can vary with state.
120K or 144 months to meet emissions warranty. Except:
150K for cars with 2AZ-FE located in California, New York, Massachusetts, Maine and Vermont.

oh, the infamous transverse positioned V6, right? and dealer charging $500 for spark plugs install?
guess what, at least, on my wife's transverse 3.0V6, which sounds like same pita to do plugs, I can do them in 45 minutes. just did hers 2nd run, several weeks ago.
all I had to do, was to loosen throttle body and scoot it off a little bit. that gives enough space to have reasonable access behind air intake plenum. one on the pass side needs some actuator removed, then you can get to it.
what they do at dealership is they remove entire air intake plenum, and charge you for time and new gaskets. I sorta had at it twice and gave up, then figured how to do it, and voila - 45 minutes, $480 in my pocket. cussing and scratched hands, of course....
