Default Loud grumbly engine even after flex pipes replaced

Hello,

I took my car to Mavid / Cole Muffler because I could see the 2 flex pipes were totally rotted out and were leaking fumes. Loud under accelerration from like 1-2.5 rpms.

Got the car back from them, and its just as loud! They replaced both flex pipes, and they arent leaking from what we could tell.

They took it back in, and put some sort of sealer in the gasket they had to unbolt to do the job, but that seemed to work only about 10% better than before.

They said I might have an exhaust manifold leak.. which they said is quite a big repair.

Do you think I am in any danger this winter of breating the fumes?

What should I do?

thank you

Not knowing the location and size of leak cannot answer your question.

Carbon monoxide from exhaust fumes can cause health issues and if the level is high enough unconsciousness and death.

Check the internet for a list of symptoms from carbon monoxide exposure. As the car has had this leak for some time review the list and determine if you have had any of symptoms listed.

Use a section of hose as a stethoscope to locate the area of the leak?
