Default 1998 XLE ECU Swap?

Okay.... So, my grandmother has lost all the 6 keys that she's had made over the years that have been programed to the car. I myself am a BMW guy and don't know much about the Japanese vehicles. Would a swap of the ecu work if all the modules were the same? Would the ecu have to be coded to the car? ect...

If you guys have any ideas of what might work, please let me know.

Thanks,
Hunter

The ECU has an EPROM that stores the key codes. If all master keys are lost this chip needs to be reprogrammed. Here you need a chip programmer. Suggest calling locksmiths and doing an internet search for vendors who will reprogram the ECU chip. They are out there. A replacement ECU will require the same programming.
