Hello , I found this surfing and want to say its the most informitive Toyota site I came across, great community here.

I have a 1998 Camry 2.2 and the motor is gone . I found another 2.2 in a 1995 Camry and was told I could swap these motors with no problems . The Toyota tech said I was good to go but the mechanic doing the engine swap says its not possible ( hasn't tried the swap yet ) . Would someone be able to ppoint me in the right direction ( re; is this possible witha little mod or it juts plain wont work ? ) Thank you and hats off to this community again , Phil

 

Ok , I have just learned the 95 has a distributor while the 98 is DIS . Is the swap still possible if the wiring is changed ? Has anyone done this ? Thx for replies .

 

unfortunately, I haven't tried that one... I though of it but one of my friend discourage me to do it. I also need some light on this.

Might work if you swap the head.
