2007 camry se - oil loss!
Unfortunately here is another 2007 camry se with 70000 miles that is burning over 3/4 quart of oil in 1200 miles! (about .7L in 2000 km). Dealer suggested I write or call Toyota HQ and state my claim. They brushed it off by stating its normal to lose about a quart of oil up to 1000 miles! They said thats what all the other mfgr's state. They suggested I speak to dealer?
My first Toyota, maybe my last depending what they do for me.
I won't give up easy. Never experienced this in any of my american cars.
Always had dealer do the service.

The problem is becoming more common on this engine model as the miles add up. Toyota knows about it and issued a service bulletin to dealers stating if an engine burns more the 1 quart per 1200 miles AND is still under warranty to repair the engine.
This site has a long thread on this problem, suggest you read all posts. Then go to the Toyotanation website and check their posts.
1 quart per 1200 miles is not normal but the statement covers Toyota exposure on this engine having a design problem. What was abnormal is now deemed normal and problem solved for Toyota.
Some owners out of warranty having a consumption over what Toyota considers normal have had success in getting Toyota to repair the engine by going up the chain of command.
The problem is common, Toyota knows about the problem, the statements of being normal is as you state a brush off to make you go away.

Thanks for your reply. I will continue to go after Toyota to give me a response regarding their solution.
My Toyota dealer service advisor agrees that I should pursue HQ and I will continue.
This kind of oil loss is not normal. Toyota should bear the responsibility and step up to the plate! Its nice to read that I'm not alone, unfortunately it should not be the case.
