Default 2014 2ARFE Engine light on question (Innova obd2 code reader)

Check Engine light is on, even though it runs fine. I plugged in my Innova 3020 code reader and the small icons blinking are the oxygen sensor monitor, along with the OH, C, EGR monitor and EVAP monitor.

Anyone with experience using this Innova obd2 reader? It is not generating a DTC #.

Most likely a common replacement of O2 sensors?

Thanks,

Dan

If an icon is blinking, it means the monitoring area being tested, as indicated by the icon, is not complete. The scanner will not test areas that are not test complete, one being the oxygen sensor.

Thanks, Toyomoho, for answering this. Could it be that if I took a short trip it would complete its monitoring process and give me some actual numbers?

Review the scanner directions (pages 25-27). See link below:
Innova 3020.

What does the scanner display such as read or error?

What is the status of the green, yellow, red indicator lights. Is a green, yellow or red dot on?

Was the cars computer cleared of codes prior to the test?

Yellow dot means "Monitor Has Not Run" status. The computer self tests the cars systems and sensors, each of which has its own defined test cycle. A short drive may not be enough to complete some test cycles.

Test cycles are based on MPH and duration at or above a set speed, RPM, throttle position, engine temp, etc. Over time, driving should complete all tests. The internet has hits on suggested driving methods which may help complete all test sooner such as hwy, city, MPH, etc.

If the code(s) were cleared prior to reading them, the cars computer would need to run all self test again.,

Odd that this scanner will not display codes even though the check light is on. The cars computer set the light due to a code. The fact that the computer has not finished all checks should not matter in accessing the stored set code(s).

If possible use another scanner. Some auto parts stores will read codes for free but depends on the state you are in.
