Default buying 09 need help

Thinking of buying an 09 Camry LE 4 cyl after the wife totaled 2004 intrepid. I've read some bad comments on the new corolla's in regards to the new electronic assist steering. Is this a problem on the Camry? The rental we got is a 09 Corolla and the steering and road feel is horrible. Interstate driving feels as if your constantly driving in a 15-20 MPH crosswind. Car constantly wanders, driver fatigue would definately be a problem on long trips.

I had the electric power steering in my 08 Hylander which had 36,000 miles on it when I traded it in today. Never a problem. I like the very precise control it had. No there was no road feel at all but it tracked better than any car that I have had. The slightest input resulted in movement. No sloop in the steering at all.

I didn't check but I assume the the 2010 Camry that I picked up today has the electric power steering. I only put 70 miles on it today and it steered terrific.
