Default Good bye and thanks.

As I reported in one of my first posts, I had inherited a 96 Camry wagon and was surprised at how much I liked it. Very roomy. Decent on gas.

The had nearly 200,000 miles on it but the interior still looked great. There were some chips in the paint but what do you expect after nearly two decades.

The timing on getting the car was great. My Accord was on its last leg and that leg was worn down to the knee.

I did a little work on the car immediately. New plugs, cap and rotor, hatch struts, headlamp assemblies. Ran like a champ. I was happy. I was searching for a second set of wheels for winter tires. I was looking forward to 50,000 miles with my Camry.

Then my son entered the picture. He flew into town and a day later needed to go to the airport to pick up his girlfriend. I let him take my Camry. Big mistake.

He went off the road on the way to the airport and had a close encounter with some Armco. The insurance company totalled it and I didn't want to buy it back and fix it because some serious stuff was bent.

Oh, yeah . . . my son was okay except for some bruising.

There I was, stranded far from home with no car so I figured I'd look for another Camry wagon since I liked that one so much but I could not find one in decent shape.

I wound up with a 2001 Volvo wagon. A nice car but far more bells and whistles than the Camry. I know what everyone is going to say about maintenance but all of the big jobs were been done on this car before I bought it.

Thanks for the help when I needed it.

Glad to help out.

At least no one was injured alas kids can be a pain at times.

Wagons in good shape can be difficult to find.

Volvo has their own quirks, if needing help there are several Volvo owners forums on the internet plus Yahoo has a Volvo owners group.

Good luck with your Volvo.
