Default hello

hi everyone! I am new to the forum, picked up a 2009 Camry XLE about a month ago, it's got almost 70k on the clock and has a 4cyl engine which has taken some getting used to for me since I have always had a truck with a V8. Overall it's a nice car to commute in. Looking forward to hanging out on the forum.

Thumbs up

Late here, but "welcome".
Coincidentally, we just got an '09 Camry XLE last month, with 72k miles on it. I call it the "cushi-mobile".
Enjoy!

Tommy,

Does your camry have the 4cyl? If so does it sound like a lawn mower when you accelerate? Mine does and I think it might be the intake manifold, seems to be a known baffle issue, I was just curious if yours sounds the same way. I like the car but the engine sound is annoying. I know it's a 4 cylinder but it shouldn't sound as loud as it does. I first thought it had an exhaust leak or the flex pipe was damaged but they are all good.

09XLE, Pardon the slow reply.
I didn't know about the 'known baffle issue', but yes, our camry sounds a bit like a lawnmower on steroids. It makes lots of sound with not a lot of power IMHO. However the mileage is pretty good, as I average 31-33 mpg in mixed driving for my 100-150 miles a day driving.

Front rotor warp/shake at interstate speeds, trim coming apart in the interior and generally mis-matched interior trim (in color and finish), less-than-good overall fit and finish of body and interior pieces (lead me to wonder about mechanicals also)..... I can see where Toyota QC dipped in the '09 era.

The '14 and '15 Toyotas I have looked at (have family who have bought 2) seem much better built and fitted.

Tommy
