Default New camry owner with questions

Just bought a used 95 Camry not too long ago and I have a few questions...

By my shift **** is a button that says ECT...what's it for? I've pushed it and I can see PWR on my gauges but can't tell the difference with my driving....

Another thing is the clock. At times, the clock resets to 1:00. I'm thinking it's a wiring issue but I'm not sure.

Hope someone can help!

Thanks!

The clock has 2 sources of power, Dome fuse and Cig/Radio fuse.

Cig/Radio supplies power to operate the clock, Dome to keep the memory of current time when the ign key is off.

The clock must be losing power from the Dome fuse on a momentary basis and the current time resetting. Are the radio presets also being lost, radio memory is powered by this fuse.

Could be a wiring problem, loose connection, etc.

The ECT swtich changes the trans shift settings to a higher MPH. Turn the system on and notice if there is a differance in shift timing. Most owners leave the system off.

Default thank for the reply....

my radio presets are fine...everytime.

as for the clock, it sounds like I might have both problems. (Dome cig/radio fuse) I recall getting into my car and seeing that the clock was not working at all but this only happened once.

as for the ECT:
NO, I do not feel any difference. I will check it out....

Thanks for your reply!

OK, I noticed the difference when using ECT.....the vehicle is more responsive with ECT "ON" than "OFF". So in general, with the ECT "ON", the vehicle consumes a little more gas than it being "OFF"...? Is that correct.
