Thanks for posting back, I'm happy to hear about the timing belt.
Fingers crossed for your smog check!

Have a code reader,so after driving a little more I checked the OBD II with the code reader. OBD II showed that it was now ready for a smog check. Took it back to the smog shop and retested it and it passed with no issues.

Had a question on the factory stereos. The Camry has a radio/cassette player. Then below that there is a single CD player. Was the CD player later installed by the dealer?

I looked through the manual and it doesn't show this player in it.

Thanks

The stereo slots are called a Double DIN. This is two identical slots for stereo items. If the lower slot is filled with just the box having the CD player it was a factory option, dealer install or previous owner install. The CD player is made to plug into the above stereo with special plug and both units are made to work together. One can just can't use this model CD player without attaching it to a Toyota radio made to use it. Toyota also offered a combo stereo/CD player that took up both slots.

Got the Camry on Monday. Have a issue with the clear coat peeling off and a large dent on the Rear passenger side quarter panel.

Not sure this age of car had a clear coat as OE. Was the car repainted?

The car hasn't been repainted as far as I know. Could it be the paint itself peeling off?

Thanks

If the paint is pealing off then the primer coat will show up. The clear coat is just that, clear.

Do some investigation into areas of the car which were painted but would not receive a clear coat. Perhaps engine compartment and trunk area. Then compare paint gloss. Could be clear coated after all.
