New Member, first Toyota (Camry)
Hi All!
Thanks for letting me join up on this forum!
3 weeks ago I bought a 2000 Toyota Camry CE.
It's my first Japanese car ever. When I used to live in the Netherlands I drove VW's and Audi's. My first car in the US was a Ford F150, which was, to say the least, not a success.
Traded it in to purchase a Subaru Outback for the family, which my wife drives most of the time and I got her Ford Escort '94 which was fine suited for the way I needed a car.
A month ago the Ford's engine cracked after 13 years and 300,000 + miles and gave up the ghost forgood.
In my mind I had already been preparing for another car and from what I heard it was going to be either a Toyota, another Subaru or Honda.
In the weekend of Mother's day we went car hunting and we found a very well maintained and very good looking snow white Camry.
It drives great! I'm very happy with it so far. The fuel consumption is not that spectacular with 23 miles to the gallon but oh well. These were all pure city commuting miles, so I have no doubt it will do better on the highways.
It is almost insane how popular the Camry is here in Eugene Oregon! I've just stopped counting the times I drove behind, next to, or even in between 2(!) other Camry's. Is that the same throughout the U.S.?
Well, that was my introduction. Thanks again for having me!
Frans

yup thats how it is. before i did anything to mine, i keep getting it confused with other people's camry.. lol.. but now i made it stand out just by doing simple mods to the exterior.
and welcom.

Could be the fact that it's been the number one selling passenger in the U.S for 8 or 9 years . The trd package helps mine stand out a little bit , but yeah its a common car.
Nice ride , looks very clean .

Hey Frans, welcome fellow new member. I've got a 2000 le and I'm still getting about 27-28 hwy miles per gal for everyday commute in TN. I've gotten 30+ on long trips, so good luck. It's pretty amusing going down the interstate realizing you're 4 abreast with 4 different gen camrys.
