Hey guys, so here's the story...

My friend got a '93 Toyota Camry (obviously) and because it was something with the insurance (I'm still not covered on the whole story) they got one that doesnt run. So I immediatly thought in my head 'project car!'

I only saw it once for like two seconds, I could tell it's a 4 cylinder, and I'm not sure if its a DX, LE, SE, or LXE, and im guessing since from the research I looked up, that since its a 4 cylinder, its a 2.2L. Like I said, I only saw it for two seconds, and I'm hoping to fix it up, and make it a sleeper. I was also hoping to swap it out for a 5 speed, (Could I do that with a Camry?).

So yea, when I get more information on it, I'll be sure to let you guys know! By the way, I'm going to UTI (University of Technical Institute) so I'm going to be an auto mechanic and specialize in Mercedes-Benz, so I will have more knowledge on cars. I know a lot already, but theres still a lot I need to learn. THanks for reading!

Welcome to CF!

Auto to manual swaps have been done. Suggest you find a donor car with a manual trans to be able to grab all the parts at once.

The 2.2L engine is strong enough but not designed for performance, more so economy. The cylinder head design is a limiting factor.

Not many performance mods are available: cams, headers, CAI's that don't add much HP. It can be turbocharged.

Do you know if i should do a whole motor swap as well, or leave the 4 cylinder? And what brand of turbocharger is there available?

My mistake... I went over to my friends house again and saw it was a V6 (like I said, I only saw it for 2 seconds and could've sworn I saw four header pipes haha) and it is also a XLE.

XLE would be V6.

Before you buy the car check out what model V6. There was a 3MZ-FE and a 1MZ-FE.

I didnt buy it, my friend already has it. It should be a 3MZ-FE if its a 6 cylinder, am I correct? Thats what it said in the manual. If it can be wither one for a 6 cylinder, where can I find out what model it is? is it on the engine somewhere?
