RE: Should I change Oil ?
You should be able to switch back and forth at any time or mileage.
Synthetics are better in many ways, if going this route suggest Mobil 1.
Keep the same mileage oil change interval.

RE: Should I change Oil ?
Have never seen a published ranking list for synthetics. I am not up fully up to speed on synthetics plus detailed info on products such as how it was made can be elusive.
There are opinions as to the effect on quality given an oils manufacturing process and base chemicals used. But any name brand synthetic is fine for a street car.
Mobil 1 has been praised to the high heavens by owners and auto forums, it is an excellant synthetic oil!
Wal-Marts Supertech is good and represents a low cost alternative. But be sure to change every 5K miles as it appears to break down faster then other oils.
With synthetics still suggest changing every 5K miles. Too many issues of engine sludge in Toyota's that were on extended oil change intervals to risk going beyond 5K.
