Automotive Tech schools . . .

Automotive Tech schools . . .
I was thinking of going back to school and becoming a certified Toyotamechanic. My local community college has the Toyota TTEN program that is an actual A.S. degree. I have 72 units completed at that school from 10 years ago, so I would only have to complete an algebra course and the mechanical courses to get the degree. Someone was telling me that I should go to UTI afterwards so I can get a better placement, but the school is like $60,000 a year. Should I just complete the local TTEN program and find work? or complete it and move on to UTI?, or skip the local and head straight for UTI?

IMO i think UTI is a waste of money, I was considering going to UTI myself a few years ago. If you really want to be a mechanic, just a few courses at the CC and take the ASE cert. programs. There are more then 40 different ASE certs you can test for. In my opinion, it'd be a lot easier to get hired with an ASE cert. than some "degree" from a trade school.
