Default do you prefer a mercedes over an alfa romeo?

So i've been spending a lot of time lately looking at Alfa Romeos on e-bay motors, especialy the 164 models. They are well sized, they're sporty, people say they enjoy driving them, and most importantly they look beautiful, which brings me to the reason I'm writing this. My friend was in my house the other day and I told him I'm in a search of an Alfa 164. Of course he had no idea what Afla Romeo is so I had to show him. As soon as the first picture popped up he was like "oh wtf that car is ugly". I couldn't believe my ears. What kind of a crackheaded douchebag would call an Alfa Romeo an ugly car. Styling is what they are all about. They are pieces of art that you can drive on the street, and yet someone would call them ugly. But that's not the worst thing. My friend (the douchebag) drives a Mercedes 190e. For some dumbass reason he is obsesed with his car, which looks as bad as my anus on a bad day. Not that the car is bad, but the one he has is all jacked up and has faded color and ripped interior and yet he prefers his car over an Alfa. All I can say is wow. Then I showed him the new models that Alfa Romeo has (the Brera, 156, 166, etc) and he thought they were all ugly. He said that they were ugly and that the Brera looked like a minivan. Are you kidding me!? The Brera is literaly pornography on wheels! Now I don't know what the hell my friend's smoking but I know that he's the sorta person that says he hates japanese cars with 18"rims and loves Dodge chargers. I've never realy understood why the charger made sense as a car to so many people (must be the fast and the furious), but I don't go around and ruin whatever other people enjoy. Sorry I'm getting a bit outta control here. I just got sad for some reason. I've just never heard anyone say Alfas are ugly before. It just doesn't happen. It's like Brazil losing to USA in a soccer game.
But then, this is America and Americans have never really seen as many Alfa Romeos as they have seen Mercedes' and BMW's and so on. I guess we have to wait untill they come back in USAin 2009 (maybe) and see what people think of them. I personaly can't wait.
So what do you guys think of the Alfa? You think it's a nice car? It beats the camry in my book, even though the camry is better engineered. I think I'll buy one.

Sorry for the vulgarity in some of the sentences, I was a bit pissed off.

take it easy and respect

Well, if you are going for look, the Alfa Romeo Brera is very sleek, very distinctive from American cars. I actually prefer how it looks over a Mercedes.
