Default What do I need to do?

Hi,

I just joined. Picked up a 1995 camry 2.2L recently and want to make it fast.

My friend has a new 5.0 Mustang and i want to hang with it. If i do intake, headers, and catback would that get me there?

What else could I do?

The 2.2L is an economy engine, not performance. Given the Mustang's engine is over twice the displacement keeping up will be a challenge.

Still there is lot you can do but it is not cheap.

Start by doing an internet search on "5SFE performance" and read the info at the various links.

The engine cylinder head and cam design will limit the benefits of headers and catback with doing engine mods.

I agree with toyomoho. If you have enough money you can hang with most cars out there. Do you have a budget? Intake, headers, and cat back won't get you mustang levels of performance even it is a V6 mustang. Your best starting point for levels of this performance is a turbo which won't be cheap and needs a lot of tuning to run optimally and safely.

Turbo's have been done. Years ago a Toyota dealer offered a bolt on package.

Might be better off buying a Camry with V6 option, 1MZ-FE and starting from there.
