Default Rear Brakes

Hello everyone. I'm having trouble replacing the rear brakes on a 2019 Camry LE hybrid with electronic E brake. I understand that you have to release the e brake in order for the pistons to release. I did the procedure and it worked. When to retract the pistons, they only retract about half way. Not enough to get the caliper back on with new brakes. Has any here experienced this before? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The videos below may help.

The first video is the brute force method which does work..

Toyota has their own way which is the service method.

There are lots of videos on this.

Note the caliber motor can turn either direction by changing electrical polarity to move the pad in or out. Move it in not an out or it can pop out of the caliber.

I did that, and it did release my parking brake. The problem was that the piston wouldn't retract far enough to get new pads on. I ended up removing the electric motor attached to the caliper. There's a torx screw behind the piston. I wound clockwise until it stopped. After that I pressed the piston back like normal. That worked.
