2006 LE 4cylinder - Starts right up when cold, but after its warm if you shut it down it won't start again. I've tried disconnecting battery to reset everything, but didn't work. The only sound you hear is the key sounds, no sound on the battery or starter. Battery is from July 2019.

 

Try another ignition key.

Check for loose battery cable connections and corrosion at the terminals. The terminals may be bolted to the battery cables rather then swagged on. If so, make sure the bolts are tight and the connections not corroded.

Could be a problem with starter solenoid or relay. Experiment when engine warm by cooling starter down with a water garden hose or such. Just lightly flow the water on and don't spray as it could get into the electrical wiring connections. Make sure the exhaust manifold has cooled down enough as you don't want cold water on hot metal. The goal is to cool down the starter down to simulate a cold start.

Possible bad starter like Joey said. Sometimes tapping the starter with something will get it going again for that moment.

 

Thanks all who commented on this post. I took everyone's input and a little research on YouTube. I bench tested starter relay and check all starting related fuses which were ok. Then I benched tested the starter. It sometimes would work and sometimes wouldn't. Which is really the same issue I had when the starter was in the engine. I purchased a Toyota OEM starter. $ 265. after giving them my old one. It's expensive, but I bought this car brand new in 2006 and that's the original starter. 162000. miles. I think it's worth buying original Toyota parts if you think you're going to keep the car.

 

OEM is best. Rebuilt can be hit or miss.
