2001 Camry LE Daytime Running Lights Retrofit.
Hi, next weekend I will be installing drls on my 2001 Camry, mine does not have the oem system. I've read through oem drl installs and concluded that they're very complicated to intall. My idea is to splice into a wire connected to the ignition system when the key is turned on, e.g. Air conditioner. Run that line to a switch under the dash, then to a low watt glass inline fuse. I will then install a resistor or two todecrease the wattage and drop it from 12 volts to 5, 6 or 7 volts. Then splice a new wire to that one then send it to the high beam wire harness and send it power without using the headlamp circut, but my own.. I want to ground it to the low beams so that it shuts off when the headlights go on. What size and how many resistors would I need, I'm going to radio shack tomorrow. Would I need a diode. How should I insall this. Is this safe to install. What sized resistors would produce little to no heat, would I need a heatsink thing? If anyone could help I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you..
