trueHey, I need some help wiring DRL in my 2001 Camry. Mine has no DRL, but I plan to install it. It is just an idea but I need help wireing it. It would be wired to the high beam harnesses on each bulb. (High Beam Only) And have an inner line fuse to the box where I'd run a switch and mount it on the dash where the fog lamp switch would be if I had them. I wanted to know if I'd need to ground it and have a good space to do it. Mine is a 2001 (4.5 gen.) Camry Le 2.2 I4 pretty loaded up if that helps. Thanks for the help. The DRL wiring has a resistor in the ground path of the headlights to lower the voltage and headlight brightness. The resistor is connected to the wiring by a relay.

Power to the headlights comes from a circuit breaker through the headlight relay to the individual headlight fuses, then to headlights, then headlight switch and ground.

The headlight switch controls the lights by turning on the headlight relay then grounding the appropriate wiring to select high or low beams.

The conventional system works about the same. A headlight relay powering the headlight fuses and the light selector switch turning on relay and selecting the appropriate ground wire for the desired bulbs.

In order to power the headlights you need to apply power at the bulb or fuse for that bulb(s) plus ground the return wire.
