Here's a link that tells you the current tint law in your state or any other state if you take off the NC. The law here in Cali says you can't get darker than 70% on your front driver/passenger windows, which is basically no tint at all. And yes you are right, the percentage number represents how much visible light is let through. I have 5% on my back and rear windows, and 35% on the front driver/passenger side. I've never been bothered by cops. I've been pulled over for other things, speeding, neons and I've never been bothered about it. At night time the 35% looks even darker, too, still they don't care. My friend did get pulled over for his tint, but he had 5% on everything and it was the highway patrol that busted him in Vallejo which is a ****ty crime filled town.

Good luck with gettin the tint!

Excellent! Thank you - for the info and the luck I think I may be getting close - unfortunatly my mother was in an accident and our '87 was totaled (not hard with a car that old and with that many miles lol) so money is tight and I am siphoning off some extra cash to help them get another ride (their looking at a '97 camry now - it'll be our 4th camry but hopefully soon!

Will do - hopefully I'll have the dual halo headlights in soon - custom fiting headlights is not a quick process - at least not when you only get a few hours on saturday to work on it :-\
