92 LE Head unit differences/compatibilities.
Question for those of you w/ 3rd Gen cars & still have the OE Fujitsu head units, or have pulled them out in the past.
My GF's 92 LE still has the OE Toyota/Fujitsu head unit in the dash. It's the usual single din unit w/ the storage pocket below it, in a double din opening "setup". This one is a Model A16404.
Awhile back, I acquired "for FREE" from what I'm guessing is a later model 3rd Gen car (94+ I'm guessing) an identical head unit (this one is a Model 56403) that also came attached w/ a single din add-on CD player (Model 34210). It has been confirmed that neither items are working at the moment, thus they would need to be repaired.
My question: Does anyone know if on the back of the A16404, on the left side, there is a socket that will accept the plug for the34210 CD player?? Or is it only the 56403 that has the socket???
(Please don't ask to go aftermarket. My GF want's to keep the current OE head unit (which works just fine, along w/ the tape player. The CD player would be a add-on bonus).
I've also done some preliminary research in getting both of these items repaired & is aware of possible costs involved for each one.
TIA.
Chris.

Guessing no. Suggest pulling the head unit, if you know what you are doing it will take 10 minutes.
Check link for some details on this unit.

Okay....
Interesting "guess" that you posted. The link for AAA Parts is quasi vague. In the item description, it says "yes". In the interchange description, it does not list much.
Can anyone else help??? A visual confirmation from looking at the back would be greatful.
If all possible, I'd rather not try & pull the dash. I can do it (I have the 92 Camry TSRM, so I can figure out the instructions), but I'm trying to figure this out the quicky way if possible (via visual confirm from someone else who has looked already).
