Default '97 Camry - Right side speakers (F&B) don't work.

Hey all,

I have a 1997 Camry with a weird audio issue. Yesterday while working on my car I noticed my right side speakers, both front and back, weren't working. So stupidly, without really diagnosing the issue properly, I went out and spent $90 on a new stereo and wire harness, and installed it tonight. Only, the right side speakers still don't work.

Is there maybe a fuse that's blown or something, or something easy I'm overlooking? Or am I going to have to replace all 4 speakers in the car (which I really DON'T want to do). Current speakers are factory stock. I just find it weird that both the front and back on the right side don't work.

I appreciate any help in advance.

Thanks,
Chris

Does the radio have a built-in amplifier, as in an all-in-one unit?

The only fuses are for the 12V power.

Each speaker has two wires running to it. Access the non-working speakers, disconnect wires from speaker and unplug harness. Use an ohm meter check for continuity between each wire at the speaker and harness ends.

You can run extra wire from the non-working rear speaker wiring to the working speaker to determine if the speaker is bad.

Don't turn up the volume too loud or you may blow the radios amplifier transistors if the wiring is bad as no load would be placed upon them.

The installdr.com site has the wiring color layout at the harness but wire color at the speaker may be different.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes it's an all-in-one unit. It's a new JVC KD-R330. The previous one in the car was a Pioneer DEH-1300MP. I used a brand new harness and followed carefully, so I know the connections are right.

I'll have to get an ohm meter and check them out, I guess.

Thanks again!

If no ohm meter, extend the wiring from the non-working speaker to a working speaker and determine if things now work.

Harbor Freight has very low cost ohm meters
