Bluetooth controls 2014 Camry
My gf has a 2014 Camry. I recently bought a LG Journey LTE Tracfone running Android 10 for her to use for a music player in the car because the ipod she was using died. It connects to bluetooth with no issue, but there's no way to control the player other than via the phone itself. on the Ipod, a "browse" softkey would show on the screen and you could navigate folders, playlists, etc, with it, but it never shows now. Same thing if connected via the USB port like the iPod was.
I get the same result using my Samsung S10 running Android 11. Both have Media Monkey installed as a player.
What searching I've done is telling me to install the Entune app on the device. The problem is that a) the play store says the latest version of the app isn't compatible with the phone, and b) the comments say the app doesn't work anymore anyway, so that's not an option. Same thing for trying to update the Entune app in the car itself; it apparently needs the app.
Any thoughts or suggestions? It really seems odd that it doesn't allow for the same controls on Android as it did for an iPod.

Try toyotanation.com which has forums dedicated to these issues.
Entune has always had issues. Toyota interface to some makes and models of phones can have issues.
Toyota appears to have changed the name of Entune, but the app still exists.
There is a Toyota Entune website.
