speakers keep switching from the rear to the front
Ok so I have a 2005 Toyota Camry SE in black and black cloth and have an issue. I use my ipod from time to time, well actually most of the time, and use it through the ciggarette lighter ad noticed the audio switched sometimes from the front speakers to the rear. I asked my dad because he does it too and says it happens it most of the rental cars he gets when he goes out of town. So i figured it wsa normal. Then tonight I was just listening to the radio and it kept switching back and forth constantly. It is very annoying. I don't know if there is just a loose wire or what but I have to get it fixed because it is pissing me off. Any ideas on how to fix it or what causes this?
Could you clarify a little.
Are you just using the lighter outet for DC power only?
Are you using an FM transmitter lighter adapter and picking up the signal through the car radio?
The radio does this by itself without anything plugged into the lighter outlet. If so, try tuning a AM station (not stereo) and determine if the speakers still switch.

Yeah i am using the ipod connector which connects through the ciggarette outlet and i tried today, but it only uses fm stations. i am using it through the radio....
when i got in the car today it was still on the rear speakers and i hear some sound like its trying to start in the front speakers, but it doesn't....
i bought it at carmax so i might go up there and see if they can see anything wrong....but i don't know

The issue may be the FM signal from the device may not be that good. The result being the signal may be going from stereo to mono and back again and thus the speaker change.
