My boss wants me to do some routine maintenance on his 04 Camry, I think it's a 2.4L. Just replaced the belt and tensioner.

Thinking a coolant drain and fill, fuel filter, spark plugs, air filter... It hasn't been touched for a very long time. I have a Buick so I am unfamiliar with what is recommended for these cars. Any help is appreciated in advance.

 

How long does you boss want the car to last.

If a long time determine if the trans fluid was every changed. If not change it all not just a drain and refill.

You can DIY by disconnecting the return line from the trans oil cooler. Drain and fill the pan with new fluid. With line disconnected attach some kind of hose to route the fluid into a container. Operate engine until a couple of quarts have flowed out then stop and and refill.

Do this until the fluid coming out is clean then top off.

Dirty worn out fluid is the No 1 cause of trans failure. Make sure you use the correct fluid.

If you can't do the job yourself have the dealer do this.

You can use a modified turkey baster to draw out the fluid from the power steering reservoir and replace with new. Start engine and like it run for a minute then do the job again until the fluid stays clear.

The above 2 procedures will help insure long life of the PS and trans.

I suppose you could flush the brake fluid out but this is more the most do.

I think the fuel filter was moved to the fuel tank. You will need to remove the pump assy the has the filter installed inline with it. There should be an chassis access cover under the rear seat cushion. Remove the cover to access the top of the tank and pump cover.

Check the owners manual to determine if there is a cabin air filter. If so it would be under the passengers dash above the heater blower fan. Easy to replace.
