Hi I am new here. The wifes hood wont stay open and needs the strut replaced. Only I don't see how the top and bottom sockets are held in place. I cant imagine you just pry them off.

There should be a retaining clip at each end of strut to keep strut end in socket. Pry off clip with screwdriver (prop or have someone hold up hood).

When removing, take note of strut orientation. Some replacement struts are left and right hand, others dual position.

Install replacement strut and retaining clip.
