Question 2006 Camry SE Gauge Cluster Color Change

Hi everyone,

Finally got around to posting here after reading so much insightful information. I am in need of some help. Im attempting to change the color of my gauge cluster and when I opened up the cluster thy seemed to be attached to the board. Is there any way to change color from the Orange to a Blue without unsoldering/soldering or am I missing something?

Thanks in advance for any help, it's much appreciated.

Your assessment is correct.

The LED's are soldered to the board (surface mounted). To gain access requires removing the cluster front panel which is translucent.

The number of LED's per gauge vary. Speedometer has 6 LED's plus 4 that light up the needle, others have less.

Owners have changed the LED's themselves, so it can be done. Appears straight forward but will take patience and some skill at surface mount soldering methods.

Thanks for the reply Moho, ok so at least I know the job that's ahead of me. Would you happen to know the type of LED that I would need to use? I was Google'ing around the SMD type but they seem a little too big (although I'm sure they are plenty bright). Thanks again for the info Toyomoho.

PLCC-2 is the main type used.

4 or 5 years ago someone at Toyotanation posted a detailed thread on replacing the LED's. It's worth reading. Search in the Generation section that includes your year of car. If you can't find it post back.
