There is a tool to remove/install the filter housing. The one that is offered form Toyota is over $40. I've purchased one on-line for around $10 without much success. The tool works to remove the housing. But then the toll is stuck there and I have a hard time removing the tool from the housing after the housing is removed. Then the bigger problem is is that when the tool is used to install the housing with a new filter. The tool is stuck there and I cannot seems to be able to remove the tool from there. Cheap tool.... I am wondering if anyone had success getting a tool that works for less to remove filter housing?

 

Might bite the bullet and get a more expensive tool.
