Default '98 Camry remote battery replace..dealer or not? Speakers?

Hi,
I have a 1998 Toyota Camry, and wanted to know if I am stuck having to go to the Toyota dealer to get a battery for my remote door locks, or can I go to the drug store or Walmart, Target, or someplace else other than the dealership.

If I can get this battery outside the dealership, does anyone know which battery it is, or is it hard to open up the remote with a small screwdriver?

I wondered if there's a major difference between buying them from Walgreens or Radio Shack, than going to the dealer with their 300% mark up?

Now if the (new) battery does not work, then I may need another new remote.

When I stand there and try to either lock or unlock using the remote, I have to hit it about eight to ten times before it finally works..maybe the button is getting worn out. I'm hoping it's the battery.

Off topic,

but maybe you can answer....My right speaker is blown. When I play bassy jazz or anything else, it rattles, and sounds fuzzy. Is it worthwhile to just go to Fry's electronics and pay them between $20.00 and 40.00, plus the cost of a pair of new speakers, or is this something I can do myself? This is a 1998 Camry so I don't know how good the factory speakers are compared to installing better ones.

Thanks for all the replies!

Open the remove and determine what battery type is installed. Most likely any store that carries a good selection should carry the battery.

If a new battery does not solve the problem the issue could be dirty switch contacts. If you can access them, you can clean them alcohol.

Access to the speaker requires removing the door panel. The Autozone website may have something on this job in its vehicle repair section.
