Default Is my battery going? Your thoughts.

As you know it was below zero in the Midwest and other parts of the union.

My battery the first day at approx. 15 below started. The second day at approx. 15 below dead and took a while to charge and start.

It works fine now since it is warm .Will also check the voltage.

I am thinking the date is 09/14 on battery, Interstate, Costco I should change it and not try and squeeze more out of it and get stuck. I also get some credit. Note 220000 miles , daily driver, highway 400 miles a week.

Unless the battery was drained by some electrical item left on, a dead battery is bad. A bad battery can respond to being jumped and charged. It can hold this charge for a day but be dead in the morning. The lower the air temp, the less output a battery has. If a battery is marginal in performance at higher temps, it may be totally inadequate at low temps.

I just replaced it due to its age and after checking the charging system. Standing voltage was low at 12.4 after driving. Thanks.
