I checked the tie rod play today. I jacked the car up and jerked on the wheel at 3 and 9....no play. Then at 12 and 6 and .......no play. Both wheels checked the same. I sucked out the fluid in the reservoir. It was 8 ounces in volume. The screen in the bottom of the reservoir looked to be clean. I then added Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak. Since the fluid level was low when I started this project, it took about 10 to 11 ounces to refill to the max hot level (yes the fluid was hot). The Lucas product has good reviews. A 12 oz bottle is about $9.62 at the local Walmart. I will post with results over the next few days/weeks. I seem to detect an improvement already but will give it some time.
