Wacky 1995 camry wagon modification
Hi everyone,
Long story short, there are no contemporary vehicles on the market that beat the mileage and functionality of my 1995 Camry Wagon, so I can't see spending $20K to $30K or more on another vehicle.
I do tow a trike with a 175lb tongue weight and with people and camping gear exceed the maximum capacity, in addition to putting other heavy loads in the back, thus I overload the rear struts and replace them and/or the mounts prematurely. I've been thinking about removing the rear independent suspension and installing a straight axle with leaf springs and shocks to beef up the rear end.
I haven't gotten to the point of taking measurements as yet. I reckon the uni-body would need to be reinforced where the shackles will mount and fabricate chock mounts.
Anyone go this far on a modification. Any reasons why this won't work at all?
I appreciate your input.
