Default AC Light is Blinks?

My 96 Camry LE 4 cylinder, AC light started blinking after a few minutes of being on, once this starts the AC unit kicks off. If the light stays on it works fine. I've tried turning off then back on works for a minute or less and starts blinking again.

Any idea what this could be? I priced the unit that the button is attached to and its a 379 bucks.

I'm hoping that its not that and maybe a relay or something else I can check.

Thanks

It sounds like a short in the wiring behind the A/C, have you ever spilled anything on it?
Try taking it apart and looking at the wires.
Though I base this on absolutely no knowledge

on 96 camry a/c light flash when system have a malfunction, check the a/c relay swap a/c relay whit the horn and turn the a/c on and of to reset the system , in other cases the a/c system is low on Freon. a/c relay is on the engine compartment fuse box is a light color relay normally is white, newer version is blue or purple is also name as the magnetic clutch .
