Default Airbag Light/Wiring Harness

Good morning all,

I have a 2014 Camry SE. Recently the Airbag light came on, and had it taken to the dealership. They told me it was a wiring harness in the driver's door and replacing it would cost $700. The sounds awful high for a wiring harness, does anyone have any experience with this issue or know where I might be able to get the wiring harness to replace it myself.

Thank you all for the help.

The dealer is the most expensive place for repairs.

Did you get any info from the dealer as to what specific parts were needed?

Online Toyota dealers sell parts at a discount or there are auto salvage yards. Need to find a donor car and pull the harness.

The air bag system has its own diagnostic computer. With the proper code reader can download the codes to find the problem area and possible parts needed.

Dealership said it was the wiring harness and gave me the part number, $350 at their location, $250 online so I ordered it online. Still seems steep for a door harness but I suppose that’s the going rate.

Toyota also has the highest parts prices, but they are top notch.

Note that unlike the others cars systems, the airbag computer may not reset after the wiring is replaced and problem fixed. May need to reset the system manually using a scanner that can access the airbag system to turn off the light.

When working on the airbag system, disconnect battery and wait 90 seconds.

Is there anyway to reset the light without a scan tool? The Honda Accord I used to have could be reset with a jumper wire across certain terminals on a connection under the dash

Older Toyota had something like this but not sure about newer.
