Default Doors won’t lock after changing light

Hey guys good morning. Need some help. Yesterday I changed my light bulb in the gear shift box in my 1999 Camry. After I installed everything back my doors lock wouldn’t work properly. When car has power and I try to lock doors they quickly unlock. It’s almost like the car thinks it’s in gear. When I turn power off, the door locks don’t work at all. Can anyone help?

The Computer uses a rotary switch on the trans housing in engine compartment to know what gear trans is in.

Make sure the push type door switches on the door frames are working OK. The switch tells the locking system if the door is open or closed.

Thanks for your help. I did push the frame switches in and the locks stay locked. But only when power is on. When I pull keys out and still push switch the doors won’t lock. What should I do?

Does the car have a wireless door lock?

Nope. It’s old school. All by key or by hand

This design has nothing linked to the trans.

The push button door frame switches are the only thing that would normally prevent the locks from staying locked (if the door was not closed).

If you had not worked on the shift console would state to check the wiring between the drivers door and chassis. This wiring can fray, short, break with the wiring harness flexing due to door usage. The result can be problems.
