Remove or Disable 2000 Camry Key-less Entry
I bought this 2000 Camry LE which is in really good shape. My wife (and myself) are frustrated with the key-less entry system though. Does anyone know how to disable or remove it from our car? A wiring diagram would possibly help? Or, is the keyless entry system integrated into the ECU and we are stuck with it as long as we own it?
Thank you for your help. Chris

Don't know if this year of system can be disabled, later models can.
The ECU is wired to the door locks making cutting the right wires a challenge.
The system features can be reprogrammed but don't know the procedure, might be in the owners manual. Typically a number of door open/closes, pressing the door unlock key in a certain order and time period with the ign switch on.
The car had several options such as a dealer or factory installed remote and or alarm system which may make a difference in programming.
How may buttons on the remote, does the car have a theft system (blinking light on the dash)?
Search the web as instructions often turn up and check posts at the Toyotanation website.
