Scan codes
My 2011 Camry XLE is throwing a P0012 code - Intake Camshaft Position Timing Over- Retarded (Bank 1). There are a number of parts that can be associated with this problem such as Camshaft Timing Oil Control Valve, Camshaft Position Sensor, Oil control Valve Filter/Strainer etc. Has anyone else with this year and model Camry had this problem? If so, can you tell me what parts you replaced to fix the problem.
A second issue is also occurring. When the Camry is ideling only the check engine light is on for the above reason. However, if I drive the car for approx. 30 feet the "Slip indicator light" ( VSC) comes on and stays on. But, if you turn the car off and back on, only the check engine light comes on and again the VSC indicator light comes on only if I drive about 30 feet- again. But again, the only code that comes up is the P0012.
I use synthetic oil, 5W-30 as the manual recommends, and I do my own oil changes.
The Camry has approx. 24,000 original miles on it.
Thank you for any information to help fix these problems.

You can try cleaning the oil control screen which does plug up.
If the check light comes on, the VSC is programmed to turn off.
Fix the P0012 codes (check light now stays off) and the VSC issues should go away..

Problem found
My mother owned the Camry at that time and she most likely didn't know about the TSB.
Thanks again for letting me know about TIS. It saved me a huge headache and a very expensive repair bill.
