Windshield wiper problems on 98 Camry
The windshield wipers on my 98 Camry stopped working while I was driving in the rain. I don't remember if I was in the process of changing the wiper speed at the time. However, the resumed working about 10 minutes later. I incurred the same problem on the following day, but they seem to work fine now. What gives? Could it be due to a faulty fuse? Perhaps a worn out wiper motor? Two mechanics told me they can't diagnose the problem while it's working and that replacing the motor would cost $500...ouch!

RE: Windshield wiper problems on 98 Camry
There is a 25A fuse in the fuse box located behinds the drivers side dash (behind ash tray) but doubt this is the problem.
The wiper controls located in the washer arm on the steering console. Might be dirty contacts inside the switch. Not sure the switch can be taken apart.
On the wiper motor, the Blue/Black wire is low speed, Blue/Orange High speed, White/Black is ground.
Suggest visting the AutoZone website having a self help repair section. You should be able to find info on this and possible troubleshoot. If it is the motor you can replace it yourself. Try Rockauto for parts.
