Hey this problem just started recently within the last 10 to 14 days.

It started when I got into the throttle to pass someone and it just stayed in that lower gear.

It stayed that way for a couple of days then I hit the od button a few times at 70 and it shifted.

Then it went back to not shifting again.

Then for the last 4 or 5 days it's been fine including a 3hr road trip.

Then this morning I used more gas than I wanted (seems to work if I just barely accelerate to speed) and now it's stuck again.

It feels like an electronic issue but you guys are the pros.

I do know I have a bad flex pipe if that matters.

Any ideas?

Hows the trans fluid as far as condition.

The trans is monitored by a computer, any trans trouble codes stored?

i took it to a transmission shop and they said they think it's a lock up problem. At $2,400 I just can't justify fixing it with 259k miles on it.

I bought a 2007 Sienna with 167k.

So my Solara will be my beat around town car and my Sienna will be my road car and when I go fishing or need to haul stuff.

A spare car comes in handy!

For the quoted repair price, might need a new torque converter rather then a trans rebuild.
