I have a 2005 LE 2.4 w/ 4795 miles on it. I took it for its first dealer service, upon returning home it was running very bad and the check engine light was flashing. Returned to dealer and it was a broken exaust valve spring. The service mgr. ( who has been w/ Toyota for 20+ yrs) says that he has only seen that once before. Has anyone seen or heard of this? It seems strange on such a well built product.

 

All forms of motors will have flaws in them sometime.Toyota makes excellent engines,but not everything can be a winner.

 

Should be warranty with only 5k on the odometer. We had this happen at work with a brand new Viper. The owner was pissed off. Good luck with getting it fixed.

if it's only a valve spring, that is a good thing. though a camry is a high quality product, the manufacturers can sometimes mess up just like at any company. warranty should cover it.
