Default 07 camry performance and mileage are lacking

I have a 2007 Camry with 70k on it. My gas mileage and performance have been suffering for awhile now and was looking for some insight on what to check. Does anyone know if the fuel filter is in the tank or somewhere else? any other suggestions are appreciated thanks

What aintenance has been done on the car? Even though they say to change plugs at 100k, I think the car is old enough to warrant the change. Air filter as well. Let us know if any work has been done or parts checked out.

just your standard oil changes, tires and brakes. other than that nothing has been done on it. it has a K&N reusable air filter that gets cleaned once or twice a year. Could the fuel filter be the problem depending on the location of it?

I doubt the fuel filter is the issue, it is possible though. I would check the plugs for starters. If they look good then go from there to the basic tune up stuff. Changing the fuel filter won't hurt by any means but might not be the culprit. Look at those tune up items that you can inspect to see if they actually need replacing.
Is this a 4 or 6 cylinder?

Start with a fuel injector flush. Not the crap you pour in the tank. Take it to a shop/dealer and get an actual fuel system flush. Then go to plugs and of course air filter, that should be changed anyway or cleaned if it's a K&N. Also change the pcv valve. May not help the fuel mileage but its real cheap preventive maintenance.
